Parades and Farewells

The months of November and December included both fun times and sad times. We said goodbye to a good friend, Tony G, a man who died way to young. But even tougher than that, Rick lost his brother, Gary. It too was way to soon to say goodbye. He will be missed. It reminds us to cherish the times we have together.

We were able to see family from Oklahoma. It was nice to spend an "early Christmas" with them and catch up on happenings. We saw Jeanie and her family, celebrated December birthdays and went to the big parade in Frederick.

Blizzard 09

Our neck of the woods had some of the white stuff and lots of ice this past week. It will go down as the Blizzard of '09. We do see snow from time to time...just not this much and at Christmas time. The grands enjoyed it! So did the grown kids....Oh yea, PaPa Stinks!

Hey, Santa, All I Got Was A Rock!

Ok....It has been a "l-l-l-o-n-g-g-g" time since I posted. We have had a lot going on but to busy to talk about it. I'll start with the most recent, Christmas. We had a wonderful time with all the kids and grands, except middle child was stranded in ice and snow in WF during the great '09 Blizzard. We made up for it when he arrived after the big day, exchanged presents and ate sugar cookies.

We tried for a more "unique" present this year for the kids. Thus the title of blog, "All I Got Was A Rock!". Well, you can see more in the pictures.

Chick Magnet

Middle son had to make some car decisions this past month. You know, spend big bucks really soon or....get new wheels with a new warranty. Well, with much nudging from other family members, the "thriftiest"person I know picked out a new blue car with convertible top. He calls it "Drupal" blue. Programmers will understand that one. Anyway, I hope he has a lot of fun times in that car. He said no one ever yelled out "nice ride" when he was in his HHR. Not sure why.

PJ's and Parades

I have not posted in awhile and we have been very busy.
Can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving and then....Christmas! The grands are already getting "dressed" in their Christmas PJ's (thanks to internet shopping) and are being required to pose for "pre-season test shots" (insert their eye-rolling here). They are gonna kill us for taking these pics someday. Oh well...good senior picture material.

Hubby & Lil' Earl drove the Vette in the Veteran's Day Parade while Boo and I watched, waved our flags, and cheered for them and all the heroes. It got a little loud for Boo. I don't know why every band chose to stop and march in place at our intersection. Anyway, we picked up Em at the mall and we took all the grands to Chuck E Cheese. They seemed to have a great time but we questioned our intelligence after about 3 hours! (Note to self....do not buy $30 of tokens the moment you arrive. Wait and see how fast they are dropping them in the games first!).
Middle son got a new blue car but I will post that pic next. Until next time.

King of the Hill

The kids and grands came over this weekend and hubby & I had a great time with them. Of course, I had to get the camera out and try to catch some of the fun. The grands were a bit too busy to stop and pose for a shot, but I tried. I think they had the most fun climbing on the dirt pile that is supposed to be spread out over the many holes in my back yard. PawPaw drug out the BB guns for target practice and cans, "beware". Lil' Earl thought it quite funny to stand behind the tree and "scare" the little girls. Oh, the days of summer!

Changes...the before pics

The little church we have loved for years is about to go through some changes soon. These are the "before" pics for the new building of Bible Baptist. It will be great, I'm sure, and a sign the church is growing. I love the little church on 16th, and all the wonderful memories I have of Bro and Mrs Floyd and all the family and people there.... Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Snow Cones, Grape Kool-Aid & Cookies, Mrs Floyd's Stories, Bro Floyds Sermons, the Old Songs I Love, The Chior Singing, Minnetonka Camp with the Girls on the Hill and Boys in the Barn. I could go on & on. Did I mention I love that little church?

Yes, we have no bananas...

Our town had a health fair recently for free lab and health information. I had a booth for the diabetes center. It was really busy. We gave out all the apples and glucose meters by 8am and the bananas followed at 9:00am. I included pics of the booth. One shows how busy we were and the crowds that came. I had fun but was really tired when it was over....
